Films at the Gate

A vacant lot near the Chinatown Gates is transformed, every summer, into an urban drive-in movie theater, sans cars. Or whatever the Chinese word is for “sans.” On tap for FILMS AT THE GATE are furious fists of fu. Kung-fu, that is. Home videos toppled the once-vibrant movie-theater tradition in Chinatown, where fortune cookies were served alongside popcorn. Credit the Asian Community Development Corporation for bringing the big screen back to the neighborhood, and for uniting nerds, immigrants, and Wu-Tang fans.
