Best Chance of Seeing Flying Sharks
"Pine Sharks" at the DeCordova Museum
At the DeCordova Museum, the sculptures massive shapes in metal and stone merge somehow with the environment. Giant twists of tubes, intestines, look a part of the edge of the forest. Huge black hearts grow out of the meadow. And there, look, above you in a pocket of pines, three “PINE SHARKS,” suspended, swimming in the air. Made by artist Kitty Wales (Wales sharks?!) from busted old appliances (an oil burner, a fridge, a stove), they’re as natural to the scene as the pinecones on the ground.
