Best Way To Survive The Recession
Johnny D’s Uptown
Bostonians may be broke, but we still like a good time. To survive the recession in style and on the cheap, the Phoenix offers one game plan for the truly cash strapped, and a backup for the rest of you. Plan A: spend nothing, but leave full and feeling stupid. Head over to JOHNNY D'S in Davis Square on a Monday night for free pizza (honestly, no catch) and stay for the trivia at 8:30 pm, no cover charge. Plan B: eat meat and find something to do with that spare change you've been picking up from city sidewalks. Stop by BUKOWSKI'S TAVERN (one in Back Bay, one in Inman Square) and plop down $1.70 for a solid burger before 8 pm Monday through Friday. For high rollers, consider ordering a drink off the awesome beer menu, or at least a slice of cheese to top off that flesh sandwich.JOHNNY D'S UPTOWN | 17 Holland Street, Davis Square, Somerville | 617.776.2004 | johnnyds.com | •BUKOWSKI'S TAVERN | 50 Dalton Street, Back Bay, Boston | 617.437.9999 | 1281 Cambridge Street, Inman Square, Cambridge | 617.497.7077
