Tu y Yo

tuyyo_main

Anna's, Boca, Chipotle, etc. — seems there's a taqueria slinging baby-size burritos on every corner. Harder to come by is gourmet Mexican cuisine that isn't doused in molten cheese or served with antifreeze margaritas. Behold TU Y YO, an unassuming hideaway just steps from the Tufts campus. Tu y Yo specializes in home-style Mexican cooking. Here, adventurous palates can run wild, with unusual offerings such as grasshopper mini-tacos, frog legs in green mole, and Mexican sausage with chopped cactus. Tamer diners will appreciate a subtly spicy sangria and silken refried beans. If indigestion isn't a problem, try Tu y Yo for brunch. They dole out an assortment of huevos, a favorite being Huevos Motulenos, sunny-side-up eggs with red sauce, cheese, peas, and fried ham. But be forewarned: those looking for Tex-Mex staples will be rewarded only with a blank stare.
