Green Street Grill

With roots dating back to the Great Depression, GREEN STREET GRILL blends old-timey Boston booze traditions with contemporary and creative flavor combinations. The bar doesn't spare on rye, bourbon-, and rum-based drinks, cornerstones of Boston drinking (and bootlegging) in the early 20th century. Their version of the Zombie is what all sweet drinks should aspire to be: pleasantly refreshing but not cavity-inducing. Another favorite, the Lion's Tail, combines Old Fitzgerald 1849 bourbon, St. Elizabeth's allspice dram, fresh lime juice, and angostura bitters — a spicy and tart cold-weather treat. Be sure to ask one of the knowledgeable bartenders for the A-to-Z cocktail list, a compendium with more options than most dinner menus. At $6 to $8 for a delicious, well-blended drink that packs a punch, we're glad Prohibition is a thing of the past.
