In a world being exponentially overrun with corporate goliaths and super-size super-stores, it’s nice to know that the quaint neighborhood bookshop hasn’t completely perished. The HARVARD BOOK STORE is the epitome of that classic bookworm’s wet dream, with row after deliciously narrow row of new paperbacks and hardcovers. (Downstairs there’s also an entire room filled with used books, but that’s not what this category is about, is it?) The family-owned store was founded in 1932, and has maintained its quality and magnetism, helped in part by the award-winning author series, which brings the crème of the literary crème to Cambridge. If they’re not living there already.
