Best Warmest, Most Welcoming Bartender Laugh

Misty Kalkofen

Green Street: a more grown-up B-Side? Not exactly. But it does blend the neighborhoodiness of the B-Side (as well as its mastery of vintage cocktails) with Eastern Standard’s focus on cocktail innovation (but without the Fenway crowd). MISTY KALKOFEN, dark-haired, bespectacled, and tattooed, tends bar at Dylan Black’s cool and comfortable Green Street. She knows her stuff, sure, and you can tell she loves what she does, but more than that, she possesses that gift of making people feel as if there’s no one else she’d rather have perched on the barstools. And her laugh! It comes from her gut and it fills the room. The food is New England-y and rich and fresh; the drinks — great beer selection, strong wine list, and the cocktails, of course — are famed for good reason: the bartenders are the best in the city.
