What could possibly make someone so sad that they would want to cut their wrists and black their eyes so they can either fall asleep or die? Ostensibly it’s because the double-H boys were leaving behind families and significant others to embark on the rock-and-roll dream that required getting in the van and leaving the Buckeye State in the rearview for extended periods. So much for splitting the Midwest being a good thing — it’s actually a huge bummer. The late Casey Calvert’s screamo guitar expositions over JT Woodruff’s tortured vocals are filled with enough anguish to make even the most hardened soul offer up a roll of quarters so these guys can just phone home
