"Konstantine" by Something Corporate from the album Songs for Silent Movies (2003)

Boy starts band, boy meets girl, boy’s tender heart is pulled between band and girl . . . next thing you know shit is all kinds of torn up. If there’s a more tried and true emo story than that, we’d love to hear it. The boy in question (Andrew McMahon — pre-cancer) is so sad he spells out his confusion with a “K.” His keening entreaties to the girl he lost due to all the “fucked up things he did” as his piano crescendos and the beat swells is enough to krack even the hardest of hearts. Emo bonus points: McMahon admits he’d like to try dying in the title girl’s arm and works in a Jimmy Eat World shout-out in the same sentence. And, face it, this song is pretty as hell.
