When shoegaze legends Ride fell apart, guitarist Andy Bell formed Hurricane #1 and threw himself into the trenches of Britpop. The epic earnestness and big, melody-driven choruses sounded like a lower-grade Oasis, though tempered here slightly, but eventually Bell stopped pretending and joined Noel and Liam outright.
