Rumored to have been assembled, Duran Duran-fashion, looks-first-chops-last, the men of Menswe@r were hyped for being beautiful then hated for being hyped, but not before blowing up the spot with this snotty spitball of sneering 'tude. Johnny Dean's Colin Newman impersonation with a stop-start wall of noise was almost glam-metal in its adolescent tantrum-y attack. The result is one of the era's most subversively catty rock records, sassy and insouciant when everyone else was doing fey and cerebral.
