50.Super Smash Brothers Melee

As the middle child in the Super Smash Bros trio, Melee has retained a large number of fans, considering that Brawl should’ve rendered Melee outdated. Melee remains the preferred choice for those who want to win due to skill rather than luck (see: Brawl’s controversial Smash Ball). Plus, learning Melee combos require patience and skill, like other more “serious” fighting games. Most of the time, Melee eschews seriousness with its unlikely Nintendo foes and attack animations like Peach swinging her frying pan or Dr. Mario popping pills; the game still makes for a hilarious romp, no matter how seriously you try to take it. _Maddy Myers
