“Escort mission.” The phrase sends chills up most gamers’ spines. Usually, it means you’ll be saddled by a braindead, computer-controlled ally, who will act as deadweight if you’re lucky. And here is Ico, an entire game that's an escort mission. Princess Yorda is certainly no help to Ico in his quest to escape an abandoned castle. But it is so beautiful. Watch as Ico takes Yorda’s hand and coaxes her forward. Listen as the wind howls through the stone archways. Tremble as you evade the wraiths who patrol the corridors.
