WHY THEM? This is the Wu-Tang Clan of breezy DIY folk, populated by a dorm floor of Modest Mouse fans lost in the woods on mushrooms. Initial offerings from this sprawling nine-piece gang of musicians lean toward the lo-fi side of things, and that’s fine with us. It just means that more mysterious layers of vocals and warbled horns can remain, covering the pop bones of every song like moss.
BONUS BIT! On the band’s blog, in addition to offering a bunch of remixes, one-offs, alternate takes, and B-sides, the band promises a new album in September, a more mature one with “no more potty humor and cussin’. We are fucking serious now.”
