WHY THEM? We're not going to sit here and pretend we're experts on South Dakota or anything. But still, something seems completely fitting about the fact that their best artist — Thomas Hentges, the singer-songwriter behind the Burlap Wolf King moniker — recalls the vast expanses of prairie that are typically associated with the region, fueled by steel guitar and Hentges's weathered, seen-it-all baritone.

BONUS BIT! Hentges easily has the most impressive beard out of anyone on this list.
