WHY THEM? Life is full of hedged bets and subtleties — once in a while, you just need some slate-rock walls-of-synths to bulldoze your brain clean of all the loose ends. Savoy are a two-pronged attack adept at killing club nights from DJ booths and laying waste to big concert crowds from rock stages, mixing up rubber-band laptop drops with heavy artillery from a relentless live drummer. Either way, they come out on top by sticking to electro fundamentals like dive-bombing bass and stutter-step robot vocals that don’t even need the strobes to send crowds into convulsive fits.

BONUS BIT! These guys might still be rocking student-union rallies if it weren’t for a fortuitous call one afternoon to fill in for a no-showing MSTRKRFT at last year’s Monolith festival.
